Getafe chairman pays season tickets from fans out of pocket NOW

Getafe chairman Ángel Torres made a nice gesture to his own supporters on Thursday. Due to the corona crisis, the Spaniard will extend and pay for the season tickets next season.

“The 13,500 season ticket holders will receive their subscription for next season free of charge for the matches in La Liga. We will not charge them anything, they will not have to pay anything at all. I will do that out of my pocket,” Torres tells Radio Marca.

Getafe fans will no longer be able to attend a game of their favorite team this season, as the volume will be completed without an audience whenever possible. Many games will probably also be played without an audience next season.

La Liga is aiming for a restart sometime in June. Competition boss Javier Tebas announced a month ago that the most likely dates are May 28, June 6 and June 28. It is therefore possible to draw a line by the former date.

Clubs from La Liga are allowed to train again

Earlier this week, all clubs were authorized by the Spanish Ministry of Health to start training again. The players must first be tested for the corona virus before they are welcome back on the training field. The intention is to train individually in the first instance.

Getafe reacted angrily last month to a scenario of the Spanish football association RFEF to distribute the European tickets to the clubs that currently occupy the top places in the rankings. In that case, Getafe would just miss the Champions League.

“The RFEF has come up with something that no one has asked for. I hope La Liga goes against it. We are a modest club, but no one is going to lecture me about Spanish football. I am indignant. You should know that,” Torres then.
