OÖ / LINZ. The SPÖ Upper Austria held its state party conference today for the first time completely virtually – Tips reported. Birgit Gerstorfer was confirmed as the state party leader with 86.8 percent of the delegate’s votes. She was also chosen as the top candidate for the upcoming state elections.
With 86.8 percent of the delegate’s votes, Gerstorfer was confirmed as head of the SPÖ Upper Austria at the online party conference, in 2018 she received a little more with 89.68 percent. Gerstorfer thanked for the “great trust”.

“There will be no Birgit Gerstorfer who at some point will stop fighting for year-round, free childcare – even beyond Corona,” she emphasized in a talk with moderator Sonja Kato. At the beginning of the party congress, Gerstorfer placed a focus on securing and creating jobs. As a first step towards full employment, Gerstorfer is calling for a “50 Plus job guarantee” for Upper Austria. Specifically, unemployed people over 50 should be employed in the municipal sector or social institutions, the state and AMS should assume 100 percent of the wages and salaries for one year.
