Gerstenbluth; “keep a cool head, no reason to panic”

Willemstad – Epidemiologist Izzy Gerstenbluth has today again given a very extensive explanation about the current situation regarding the corona virus in Curaçao.

He indicates that in the two new cases there is no link with the previous local infection this week. Therefore, the virus can spread quickly. It is therefore important that everyone follows up on the current measures before we enter a new phase where more severe measures are needed.

“Keep a cool head, don’t panic. Together we have it under control, you don’t have to be afraid. ” According to Gerstenbluth.

The stories that someone has been infected with a child at school are incorrect. It is fine for schools to start disinfecting, but it is not necessary. Spread is through the mouth.

All infected people are in quarantine and the people who emerged from the contact investigation have also been quarantined as a precaution. They have tested negative so far. They may still be tested positive, but we don’t know yet, so these people have to be quarantined at home.

The health department will monitor for 14 days and if these people have no symptoms and test negative, the quarantine is ready.

There are now 2 clusters known with local infections, so we must avoid all meetings where many people come close to each other. Pay attention to this yourself and be smart so that super spread events can be prevented on Curaçao.
