German Foreign Ministry made a statement on Donbass

Germany insists that Ukraine should implement the Steinmeier formula in its legislation.

Germany called on Ukraine to implement the “Steinmeier formula” into its legislation. This statement appeared on Thursday, July 22 on the website of the German Foreign Ministry.

It says that despite the ceasefire in Donbass, there are active hostilities and growing losses.

The German Foreign Ministry stressed that at the end of 2019, additional measures were agreed to strengthen the silence regime. Kiev and Moscow were called upon to fulfill their obligations.

“We call on Russia and Ukraine to fully implement the conclusions of the summit agreed in Paris in December 2019. This will achieve noticeable improvements for the residents of eastern Ukraine,” the statement said.

They ask Russia for more constructiveness regarding the resolution of the conflict – it is said about the opening of the checkpoint, the clearance of the territory and the withdrawal of heavy weapons.

At the same time, Ukraine is urged to transfer the so-called Steinmeier formula into its national legislation.

They also noted in the statement that OSCE representatives should have full access to the entire territory of Donbass. Berlin added that Germany and France will continue to work on a long-term settlement of the conflict.

As you know, the Steinmeier Formula assumes that first elections are held in Donbass, and then control over the border is transferred to Kiev.

We will remind that earlier the Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Alexei Reznikov called Steinmeier formula “fantastic document”… Reznikov analyzed Steinmeier’s formula and stated that there was “not a single zrada” there.
