Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Government German revealed that his party found no evidence of an alleged violation of power King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn while staying there.
This was disclosed by the German Press Office, DPA, citing a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Reported Straits Times, The King has spent most of his time during the last few years in Europe.
In October, thousands of demonstrators in Thailand sent letters to the German embassy in Bangkok asking the authorities to investigate whether the king exercised royal authority in violation of the country’s laws while there.
“The German government has no credible evidence that the King of Thailand made such a decision during his stay in Germany,” the Foreign Ministry said in written response to parliamentary questions.
The foreign ministry also said it hoped the king would not make decisions “contrary to the German legal system, international law or internationally guaranteed human rights” while on German soil.
For nearly four months, Thailand has been hit by a growing pro-democracy protest movement. They demanded the resignation of the government, reform of the constitution and reform of the monarchy.
Demands for monarchical reforms have led protesters to violate the deeply entrenched taboos in Thailand, where insulting or criticizing the government could result in imprisonment.
Those demands include demanding that the King no longer support the coup and removing laws that prohibit discussion of the royal family.
On Sunday (8/11), demonstrators sent a letter requesting reforms directly to the King. Local police had to deploy high-pressure water cannons to disperse the crowd planning to head to the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
Recently, the King said that Thailand is a “land of compromise” and he loves everyone equally. However, so far the government has not been able to quell the protests and the masses have vowed to continue their actions until all demands are met.
