Germany allows re-closure of borders

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas does not rule out re-closure of borders within the Schengen area in the event of an outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19 in any region of the EU. The minister said this on Saturday in an interview with the DPA.

“It is possible that it will be necessary to close the borders again,” the minister said.

In the case of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, such a decision will be made collectively in the European Union, said Maas.

In March of this year, European countries closed the borders for tourists unilaterally, writes TASS. Since June 15, almost all internal borders in the EU are open for crossing.

The World Health Organization has recognized a new type of coronavirus dangerous for all of humanity.
