At the end of October 2018, Steven “Kodak” Rosenberger was announced as one of the players on the newly formed Overwatch League team Atlanta Reign.
In a Twitter posting, however, the support player announced that he would resign from his current position in the team.
“The Overwatch league meta currently requires a lot of synergy between six core players. Because of that, I didn’t use as much as I was used to before,” he explains.

Still, there is good news for the fans, as Kodak has no plans to completely disappear from the ATL brand. He remains true to the team name and competitive Overwatch by joining the Atlanta Academy team.
“I will continue to live in the team house and be on site should my help be needed. The Academy team has achieved incredible things in the last two seasons and only needs a little push to get to the top. I will try everything to to get us the trophy. “
Change should serve personal improvement
Most recently, the Academy Team was able to achieve fourth place within the Overwatch Contenders during the Atlantic Showdown as one of the top teams in Europe.
In the western North America division, the team even achieved second place. It just had to admit defeat to Team Envy in the final.
Atlanta Reign head coach Brad Rajani commented on the changes Reddit like this: “[Kodak] still attends the daily OWL strategy meetings and is still seen by everyone as part of the team. “
“The decision to make this move was made specifically to give him more experience and playing time so that he could develop as a player.”
The aim is to build an academy team that is good enough to prove itself internationally against the constantly increasing skill level of the Overwatch Contenders. Internal training games between the Atlanta teams should also be strengthened in order to offer the OWL team even better preparation.
“We at the organization have made it a priority to provide all of our players with as much high-level gaming experience as possible. We want Atlanta to be a place for players to develop their full potential.”
In other sports leagues too, such as the NBA, first-team players are often loaned out to the G-League or the youth teams of the large franchises so that they can get a match.
