In connection with a declaration of the PG of GERB-UDF, submitted by the rostrum of the National Assembly by Mr. Daniel Mitov, the Ministry of Defense refrained from commenting in detail on cases that are the subject of investigation by the prosecutor’s office. Correctness requires not the politicians, but the competent investigative bodies to provide the public with objective information on the mentioned incidents in Cheshnigirovo and Shabla. This was stated by the Ministry of Defense and added:
Because it was formed pre-trial production and on the grounds of Art. 198 of the PPC, the materials of the investigation may not be disclosed without the permission of the prosecution. The Ministry of Defense is limited in its ability to respond appropriately to the statement in question, which contains distorted information and false allegations. For violations of such nature is liable under Art. 360 of the Criminal Code.
But in response to the extremely manipulative allegations and false suggestions, we categorically state that the Minister of Defense did not punish Senior Lieutenant Todor Manchev. With his orders from 15.07.2021 (4 days before the tragic incident) the director of RSVP – Plovdiv Colonel Ventsislav Radkov and the head of sector in the Department of Control and Security Major Georgi Merdjanov – direct commanders of a senior lieutenant were released from military service. Todor Manchev. In the declaration, along with the other false facts, even the military rank of the officer is wrong.
The Minister of Defense assigned three inspections by the Military Police Service and the MoD Inspectorate. The results of the inspections of the Inspectorate were handed over to the Military District Prosecutor’s Office in Plovdiv. Regarding the reports requested by us from the PG of GERB-UDF, we replied that we are waiting for this permission from the Prosecutor’s Office.
For the other misleading allegations in the statement, let the investigating authorities rule once they have completed their work. It is inadmissible to present unverified and manipulative facts from the rostrum of the National Assembly and to influence both public opinion and work of the investigating authorities.
