Georgi Semerdzhiev has not yet given an explanation for the incident in which two girls died. This emerged clearly from a comment on the subject of his lawyer Miroslav Hristov at BTA. He added that they are waiting for the skills to be ready, including an automotive technique.
Semerdzhiev is accused of the July accident on Cherni Vrah Boulevard in Sofia, in which two women died. He is currently in custody. Investigators found that Semerdzhiev was driving at 166 km / h, which is far above the speed limit in the area, and after using drugs.
In September, Semerdzhiev was charged with five counts, including drug possession, driving without a license, and others.
In the “Semerjiev” case, an internal investigation was initiated at the Ministry of Interior because of reports that police officers helped the man after the accident, as well as in other cases when he was stopped for a investigation. The investigation found that three regional office heads and a traffic police chief did not exercise sufficient control and authority to prevent other officials from “spreading an umbrella” over Semerdzhiev.
A hearing was held today at the Sofia District Court on a case for medium bodily harm, in which the defendants are Georgi Semerdzhiev and Ivan Bandalovski. Semerdzhiev was escorted to the courtroom by three employees of the Directorate General for Security, with handcuffs and feet in handcuffs. During the meeting, he exchanged remarks with Bandalovski.
It is a beating case from 2012. The victim explained to the court today that it all started after he and his friends were driving into central Sofia and stopped at an intersection at a red light. A luxury car pulled up behind them and started to turn on the headlights. After that, the same car joined theirs in the oncoming traffic lane, they exchanged comments through the windows, and the driver – Semerdzhiev and another man – started cursing them. After the “green” light, the cars left and everything was over.
A day or two later, the victim, along with his friends, drove his car back to the “Hadji Dimitar” neighborhood. They saw the luxury car coming towards them, stopped, got out of the car and waited for Semerdzhiev to appear to ask him for an explanation. They knew who he was from his face, as he was “famous” in the neighborhood. Soon after, Semerdzhiev, Bandalovski and a girl appeared from the nearby block and the brawl took place. The victim’s friends ran away and Semerdzhiev chased them, while Bandalovski stayed with him and hit him. Soon after, Semerdzhiev returned, pulled a machete with a scabbard from his car and hit him in the head, then hit him in the knee with the sharp part of the machete. Bandalowski said they should call the police and an ambulance. After the arrival of an ambulance and a patrol car, the victim was in the hospital, it was discovered that he had a dislocated shoulder and a cut kneecap, from which he was recovering for six months. The hearing in the case will continue another day with the questioning of more witnesses.
Ivan Bandalovski commented to the media that he and Semerdzhiev have known each other since childhood, grew up together and were part of the same football team for ten years. He does not know if his friend of him had contact with the Ministry of the Interior and the prosecutor. Regarding the remarks exchanged with Semerdzhiev in court, Bandalovski said they did not discuss the incident, but asked him if he was okay. On the assault case, he explained that the other men attacked them. “We defended ourselves, they are the culprits of this accident”.
