The newly elected congressman George Santos (34) has not yet been accused of stealing money from a cancerous dogbefore he has to deal with allegations from his parents’ native Brazil:

Conservative gay
Santos is the first openly gay Republican representative to be elected, but has equally placed himself firmly on the Christian conservative right wing of the party.

Controversially, the Republican supports what is popularly called the “don’t say ‘gay'” law, because it prevents discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in school. There is also more and more sentiment in the party to condemn drag shows and performers, on the grounds that this can be harmful to children.
– I am openly gay, and have never had problems with my sexual identity in the last decade. I can assure you that I will always be a champion for LGBTQ people, the congressman from New York stated in his defense to USA Today.
Newspaper clippings
It all started a week ago, when the Brazilian drag artist Eula Rochard on Instagram posted a clipping from the gay newspaper Grito Gay from 2008. In the picture, the 58-year-old poses with a colleague in a red/pink dress who he claims is a young Santos, during a parade in Niterói, a suburb of Rio de Janeiro.

The story is confirmed opposite Reuters by another, unnamed person from the suburbs. The person says Santos at that time participated in beauty contests for drag queens and had ambitions to become Miss Gay Rio de Janeiro.
According to Rochard, Santos was a “poor” drag queen when the two met in 2005. At the time, the then 17-year-old American performed in a simple black dress – in Brazil, a video has been posted in the last week that shows Santos wearing this the habit.
– Liar
Three years later, however, the young man returned to Niterói “with a lot of money” and the worn red/pink dress from the newspaper clipping, according to Rochard. Santos entered a beauty pageant under the name Kitara Ravache – but did not make it, according to the former drag colleague.
Got fired after Trump party
– He has changed a lot, but was always a liar, says the 58-year-old – who adds that Santos “was always a dreamer”.
In addition to the drag story and the accusations of theft from the cancerous dog, Santos has also had to defend a number of media cases that he has lied about his background as well as his CV and financial status. He is under investigation in both the US and Brazil, according to the report New York Times.
Among other things, he has claimed that his grandparents fled from the Nazis in Europe, and that his mother was present in the World Trade Center during the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001.
However, documentation from the authorities shows that the mother was in Brazil between 1999 and 2003 and could not possibly have been in New York during the attacks, according to CNN.
