Genk completes the arrival of Cyriel Dessers: “Now I am where I want to be” | Jupiler Pro League

After 4 years in the Netherlands, Cyriel Dessers comes back to play in Belgium. His last passage at a Belgian club was at Lokeren (2014-2016).

But due to too few playing opportunities, Dessers tried his luck with our northern neighbors. And there he left an indelible impression.

In his first season, he guided NAC Breda to the Eredivisie with 22 goals.

Last season, he crowned Heracles as fellow top scorer in the Eredivisie (with 15 goals).

Genk had been pulling Dessers’ sleeve for a while. The sniper now signed a contract there until mid-2024.

“Limburg is my home. I was born here. As a little boy you dream of great things. I dreamed of Racing Genk. My team”, says Dessers.

“I saw myself playing in that beautiful stadium. In football you get nothing for nothing. Only hard work pays off. Hard work to improve every day and to make your dreams come true. Now I am ready. Now I am where I am want to be.”

Cyriel Dessers comes from Vechmaal near Heers and as a seven-year-old already passed a test at KRC Genk. “Eighteen years later he can still realize his dream. KRC Genk is very happy with his arrival,” reports Genk.
