The Genesis brand has introduced another novelty that could also appear in Europe in the near future. It’s a G80 Sport sedan.

According to the designation, you can probably guess that it should be a kind of sportier version of the G80 model. At a glance, you can recognize the Sport version by the radiator grille in dark glossy chrome, a modified front bumper, specific 20-inch wheels or a rear bumper with a discreet diffuser. The various parts of the body are then decorated with elements of dark chrome.

Customers will be able to choose the exclusive Cavendish Red paint for the Sport version and also choose between two versions of brake calipers. It will be black or red. In the interior we find specific decors and new patterns of seat stitching.
In terms of technology, it did not reach for Genesis powertrains, so at least in the domestic South Korean market, the engines offer the same performance as other versions. The G80 is sold with a supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an output of 224 kW, as well as with a supercharged six-cylinder fork with a capacity of 3.5 liters with 280 kW and also with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel with an output of 154 kW.
However, the chassis was modified. The Genesis G80 Sport has been given an all-wheel steering system to improve handling and specific chassis tuning with redesigned adaptive shock absorbers and modified springs. A novelty is also the Sport + driving mode, which, in addition to the suspension characteristic, changes the engine’s response to the throttle and speeds up the shifting of the automatic transmission.

The new variant of the luxury upper-middle-class sedan also got a system called “Active Sound Design” (ASD), which is actually something like an amplifier that lets a more aggressive-sounding artificial engine sound into the cab through speakers.
The G80 sedan is one of the models with which Genesis, a luxury brand of the Hyundai group, will hopefully enter European markets soon. We assume that the Sport version will also occur.
