Hyundai’s luxury division continues to expand its offering. This time it was time for another SUV.

Genesis is a luxury division of the South Korean carmaker Hyundai, which became independent in 2015. It first offered conventional models, the luxury flagship G90 as a successor to the Hyundai Equus, large sedan G80 as a replacement for Hyundai Genesis and medium G70. This year, the first SUV also arrived, which now complements the second such model.
It’s called GV70, and as the logic of the brand nomenclature implies, it’s a smaller sibling previously discovered GV80. It follows its style according to the current design language of the brand, which is defined by a distinctive radiator grille in the shape of a coat of arms and split headlights. Compared to the GV80, however, the novelty looks sportier, more athletic. After all, the manufacturer himself says of the GV70 that it was created according to a philosophy called “Athletic Elegance.” The sporty character is further emphasized by a version simply called Sport.
The interior was then designed according to the South Korean architectural philosophy of “the beauty of the empty space,” which emphasizes the comfort of the crew. The unusual decoration of the center panel was then inspired by the wings of the aircraft.
The Genesis GV70 is currently the fifth model in the luxury range a brand that wants to enter European markets soon. In time, we should see the car in our country as well. The carmaker has not yet revealed more details about the technology, perhaps only that the basis, as with other Genesis models, is a platform with rear-wheel drive, which also allows the installation of an ATV.

However, its size should make the Genesis GV70 one of the medium-sized SUVs and compete with models such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3 or Mercedes-Benz GLC. The offer of engines has not yet been revealed, but there is speculation about the use of a supercharged petrol four-cylinder with a volume of 2.5 liters and a twice-supercharged fork six-cylinder with a volume of 3.5 liters.
The novelty will go on sale in the domestic South Korean market in the course of 2021. Before that, the car will reach the final stage of development. In two months, about 100 already unmasked cars will roam the roads of Korea, during which a final tuning will take place.
