General Eduardo León Trauwitz, former deputy director of Pemex, arrested in Canada

The General Prosecutor of the Republic (FGR) reported that this Friday Canadian authorities detained Brigadier General Eduardo León Trauwitz, in charge of Strategic Security for Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).

The case of General León Trauwitz was prosecuted by the FGR in 2019, accused of probably being responsible for protecting the activities of “Huachicoleo” within the Pemex facilities, since it was found that he and a group of accomplices, (already prosecuted ), allegedly covered up and protected the “Huachicol” in the distribution networks of the Parastatal.

The FGR reported that the extradition order against the Military was processed since November 12, 2019, which allowed the Canadian authorities to fully comply with the request and once detained, he will be presented to the Canadian judicial authorities to begin his process. extradition to Mexico.

It should be noted that the Brigadier General, León Trauwitz, filed an amparo, against an arrest warrant issued against him, for illegal theft of hydrocarbons and organized crime, however said petition was rejected by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN).

Now, Eduardo León Trauwitz, who was considered a fugitive from justice, will face the extradition process to be presented and tried in Mexico for the crimes described above.
