Geely FY11 – finally a reliable “Chinese”?

The cooperation of the company from China with former top managers of the Swedish brand has finally begun to bear fruit.

Budget coupe-shaped crossovers have gained considerable popularity in the Middle Kingdom, which does not seem strange. Despite the fact that cars in such a body do not boast large reserves of free space, Asian drivers do not need this, because the average height of the Chinese is only 165 centimeters, that is, there will be no discomfort on the second row with a “sloping” roof.

In particular, the Haval designers were guided by this when they were preparing to release their F7x, which in Russia didn’t “hit” as much as its “brother” without the letter “x” at the end. Geely FY11, apparently, will not only be deprived of the shortcomings of previous Chinese cross-coupes, it will also be able to “blow up” not only the domestic, but also the global market.

There are enough reasons for such serious advances – the crossover was built on the components and assemblies of the premium Volvo XC40 SUV, which means that you don’t have to worry about the cross-country ability of the Chinese cross-coupe. Under the hood of the Geely FY11 is a 238 mare Swedish turbo engine, paired with an 8-speed Aisin automatic transmission. A powerful motor will provide an all-wheel drive “Chinese” acceleration to “hundreds” in 6.8 seconds – even Geely Coolray was not even nearby.

A worthy motor – the appropriate equipment. Luxury Geely FY11 will receive an expanded set of security systems, as well as a number of options that are put on a “brother” on the Volvo XC40 platform. A crossover from the Middle Kingdom will also be presented in a hybrid version, but this option will not get to Russia.

If this Volvo XC40 will start in the domestic market in five minutes already this fall, then the exact dates of the arrival of a reliable “Chinese” in Russia have not yet been indicated, but it is clear that the Geely FY11 will still get to us. The preliminary cost of the cross-coupe will be 1.5 million rubles for the basic configuration, so the FY11 competes in the Russian market with Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan.
