International Association Finds Legal Basis to Accuse Israel of Genocide in Gaza
GAZA – the largest international association concerned with genocide has steadfast Israel has met the legal standards for committing genocide in Gaza, according to a recent proclamation. The finding comes as the conflict approaches its third year in October, triggered by a surprise attack in 2023 that killed 1,200 people and led to the kidnapping of over 250 hostages.
Since then, the Israeli military operation has resulted in over 63,000 Palestinian deaths, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. The conflict has caused widespread destruction, leveling most buildings in the Strip and displacing nearly all residents multiple times.
Hamas described the association’s decision as “a new legal documentation, in addition to international reports and certificates that have documented the genocide that our people are being exposed to in front of the sight and hearing of the world.” The movement criticized “the international community’s failure to move” against Israel and its Prime Minister, calling it “a stigma,an unjustified impotence,a struggle to protect humanity, and a direct threat to international peace and security.”
The association’s assessment aligns with growing accusations from international human rights organizations and Israeli NGOs. Last July, two Israeli human rights organizations, B’Tselem and Human Rights – Israel, stated that Israel’s actions in the Gaza war constitute a collective genocide against the Palestinian population. This legal evaluation is gaining traction within academic circles, notably in the field of genocide studies.
Further bolstering thes claims, hundreds of employees of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human rights, Volcker Turk, sent a message last week – as reported by Reuters – urging him to explicitly characterize the Gaza war as an ongoing genocide.
Hamas also highlighted the efforts of the International Federation of Journalists and Reporters Without Borders, stating it “is an exposure to the criminal occupation policy in targeting and killing Palestinian journalists, and its systematic attempts to undermine the Palestinian media and the Palestinian narrative, with the aim of absenting the fact of the crimes of extermination and starvation committed against our people in the Gaza Strip.” Local statistics indicate over 247 journalists have been killed in Gaza.
