gaza – February 9, 2025 (KUNA) – A surge in famine-related deaths has gripped the Gaza Strip, with health authorities reporting 185 palestinians died from malnutrition in August – the highest monthly toll in recent months. the escalating crisis underscores the devastating impact of food insecurity within the besieged territory.Since the declaration of famine conditions by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), at least 70 deaths have been recorded, including 12 children. Alarmingly,43,000 children under five are currently suffering from malnutrition,while over 55,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women are also affected. A staggering 67 percent of pregnant women are experiencing anemia, representing the highest and most concerning rate observed in years. Health officials warn that limited emergency aid and critical shortages of food and medical supplies are exacerbating the situation, urgently calling for international intervention to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
