Gasoline and diesel are a few pennies more expensive than a week ago

In a year-on-year comparison, petrol in the Czech Republic is currently cheaper by 4.26 crowns. In the second half of last October, motorists paid 4.67 crowns more per liter of diesel than now.

The cheapest fuels are still being refueled by drivers in the Ústí Region. A liter of petrol at the local gas stations costs an average of 27.67 crowns, which is two pennies less than a week ago. Drivers in this region refuel a liter of diesel in an average of 26.68 crowns, which is eight pennies less than a week ago.

The average price of diesel fell below 27 crowns per liter in the regions of South Bohemia, Karlovy Vary, Hradec Králové and Zlín.

On the contrary, the most expensive are fuels in Prague. The price of a liter of petrol in the capital fell by four pennies a week to 28.64 crowns. On the other hand, a liter of diesel rose by 13 pennies to 28.33 crowns.

On average, drivers will pay more than 28 crowns for Natural 95 in Central Bohemia, South Moravia, the Vysočina Region and the Olomouc Region. Diesel is more expensive than 28 crowns only in Prague.

Oil prices fell during Wednesday. At 16:00 CET, the price of Brent North Sea oil fell five percent to $ 39.14 a barrel. At the same time, US light oil WTI fell by 5.6 percent to $ 37.36 per barrel.

This was due to the continuing rise in new cases of covid-19 in the US and Europe, which is forcing governments to adopt new restrictions on movement and raising concerns about the future of economic recovery and oil demand. The report on the growth of inventories in the USA also contributed to the losses.

The US Petroleum Institute API announced that oil reserves rose by 4.6 million barrels last week. According to the US Government’s Energy Information Administration (EIA), stocks increased by 4.3 million barrels. Analysts polled by Reuters expected inventories to increase by only 1.2 million barrels.
