Gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Europe will double – UNIAN

The decision was made to double the capacity of the TANAP transanatolic pipeline.

In the eighth month of a large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine gas supplies on the transanatolic gas pipeline TANAP, which will connect Azerbaijan and the western border of Turkey, will double.

This was stated by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Fatih Dyonmez, reports Freedom.

From Turkey the gas will be sent to Europe.

“The decision has been made to double Tanap’s capacity. We will increase the capacity from 16 billion cubic meters to 32 billion cubic meters,” said the minister.

He also noted that Turkey will be able to use some of the additional volumes of gas pumped.

TANAP:

TANAP crosses Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, where it connects to the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). It will supply gas to Greece, Albania and Italy.

Under the agreements with the EU, Azerbaijan plans to double gas exports to Europe by 2027.

For this reason, consultations were held on the expansion of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) to 32 billion cubic meters of gas per year and of the Trans-Adriatic pipeline (TAP) to 20 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

Gas situation:

August 31 Gazprom suspended gas supplies in Europe via Nord Stream 1. The company claimed that oil leaks were found on parts of the pipeline’s compressor and that the equipment had to be shut down until the leak was repaired.

The Russian gas company Gazprom announced on 2 September point pumping gas through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline for an indefinite period. On September 3, the White House responded complete closure of Nord Stream.
