García Harfuch. Audio alerted to possible CJNG attack

The National Intelligence Center (CNI) had information the second week of June on the existence of an audio in which alleged members of the Jalisco Cartel New Generation (CJNG) planned a attack on an official in the coming days.

This information unveiled at a security cabinet meeting which is carried out by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador every day at 06:00 in the National Palace.

MILLENNIUM He consulted this information with some members of the cabinet who were at that meeting, who confirmed that the subject was exposed, although the CNI did not present the audio due to the seriousness of the matter.

Given these warnings, it was agreed to reinforce the security of some members of the cabinet, considering their work and that they could be exposed to some type of aggression, for which they were assigned elements of the National Guard.

However, this morning Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC), was attacked at the intersection of Paseo de la Reforma and Monte Blanco, Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood, in which he was injured.

After the attack, the official assured through social networks that the CJNG orchestrated the attack that left two police officers and one civilian dead. Also, he detailed that he has three shots, but that he is well and he regretted the death of the two elements of the police that were part of his escort.

So far, 12 people have been detained and investigations are continuing to find the material and intellectual authors of the incident.

The Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, indicated that the secretary will continue to be in charge of the agency, but that the National Guard will support to strengthen security. While the President declared that the aggression had to do with work, it is being carried out “to guarantee peace and tranquility, both for Mexico City and for the country.”
