Galicia begins to walk the path to freedom | Radio Galicia

Thousands of Galicians have returned to feel free after more than a month and a half confined. The first day that leaving home was allowed for more than just going to the supermarket or pharmacy, or going for a walk with young children, it has returned part of the pulse to the streets of the cities and towns of Galicia.

Since 6 in the morning, and despite the adverse weather conditions, with fog, drizzle and cold, the Galicians have wanted to feel free again. Walks along the beach or the promenade, along the trails and through the streets of their municipalities, have restored color and life to streets that remained gray and lonely since the state of alarm was decreed.

The waters of Orzán beach, in A Coruña, were filled with surfers in an unusual image, even in normal times. Coruña’s promenade was crowded between 6 and 10 in the morning. Beaches in cities like Vigo, or the Alameda de Santiago de Compostela, received people again after seven weeks of confinement.

Many masks, gloves and security measures. Also concern about trying to keep the safety distance. And, although the regulations were generally complied with, yes, images of some agglomeration have been seen. In addition, there are complaints from people who do not understand, who do not see for sure, that those who want to go for a walk with those who take the opportunity to resume sports practice have to share spaces and time slots.
