Samsung Electronics is attracting tremendous attention by filing for a rebranding of the camera module.

Samsung Electronics uses its own ISOCELL camera module. ISOCELL debuted with the Galaxy S5 and later evolved into the ISOCELL Plus and ISOCELL 2.0 brands.

According to Dutch media Galaxy Club, it has been confirmed that Samsung recently applied for a new trademark called “XISO-CELL” on KIPRIS, a patent information network.

The new mark adds a new “X” in front of the “ISOCEL” mark. It is not yet known how the newly added “X” relates to camera performance and quality.

Once again, Samsung Electronics mounts the first 2 billion fire camera in the Galaxy S23 Ultra model. It is not known whether the new branding will be used for the Ultra’s 200-megapixel primary camera.

Typically, Samsung Electronics registers a trademark for a new feature several months before a new smartphone is released. The new branding is used as a selling point along with the launch of new smartphones.
