“Gala Presents Michèle Torr’s Heartbreaking Account of Her Mother’s Car Accident”

This March 19, Michèle Torr was one of Frédéric Lopez’s guests on his show A Sunday in the countryside, broadcast on France 2. The 75-year-old singer agreed, facing the camera, to come back to a painful moment in her life, namely the sudden disappearance of his mother, Clement. This took place during the holiday season, with the vehicle she had given him a few months earlier (a Renault 4L), thanks to his first paychecks. After the Christmas period, on December 28, 1965, the woman who gave him life accompanied his father to the Avignon station, so that he could “go back to work”.

“And on the way back, she has a car accident”remembered Michèle Torr who, during this time, “chant[ait] at the Alcazar, in Marseilles”. It is only when leaving the stage that we ask him “to call a number” phone as soon as possible. At the other end of the line, we explain to her that she must move urgently, without the reason being revealed to her virtually. “My little sister is nine years old, I am eighteen and I have one regret because my sister has not seen mum”said the singer, who wanted to preserve Brigitte, from her first name, while she wanted to say goodbye to their mother, after her death. “At the time, obviously, it’s terrible”, she said, still pained by this sad memory.

An artist who drew strength from her audience

Michèle Torr has therefore become, in a way, “the mother” of his younger daughter by being responsible at a very young age. To overcome this drama, the artist was able to count on his passion for his job and on his fans, who brought her a lot of love, as she explained in the France 2 broadcast: “Me, I was lucky to be supported by the public, by people who showed me[ent] their affection, which [m]to sustain[ient]Who [m]wrote[ient].” Thanks to the song and the stage, she was able to grieve, little by little. “Fortunately… And then we move on”, she summed up with emotion.
