The choice of the first vice-president of the Republic of Chad should be unveiled very soon. The academic Ali Abdel-Rhamane Haggar on Wednesday called on the President of the Republic to appoint “a good vice-president” and to let him work “while protecting him from shadow advisers”.

Ali Abdel-Rhamane Haggar explains that the creation of such a position had already been suggested to the Head of State in the 1990s:

“While consulting my archives of the 90s, I came across an exchange between President Idriss Déby Itno and the late Minister Lamana Abdoulaye. Lamana would suggest the creation of a post of vice-president instead of that of prime minister. The deceased insisted on the human qualities of the vice-president. It was during a return trip from Banjul. I was young but I took notes for the story. The Presidential Gruman plane, piloted by Adjam and Dupuch, were flying at high altitude. The President was relaxed. He spoke out against Minister Lamana’s point of view. 25 years later, the idea rebounded and imposed itself in the Constitution. “

The former close associate of the president recommends avoiding choosing a vice-president who does not meet certain criteria:

“As a Chadian, I have expectations. My expectations as a citizen are simple. Mr. President, choose a good or a good vice-president, that is to say, not a crazy yes-yes, a notorious tribalist or a divider like “these, those, us, them”, but a Chadian worthy and proud to be Chadian. Supervise him, teach him the job, open the doors of history to him , teach him not to be afraid of Chadians, to love them, to be empathetic, to play a real role, to understand the workings of the rule of law, to understand the issues and above all to help you with the truth to prepare a civilized alternation, to avoid the destruction and the recommencement of the absurd, to rehabilitate the confidence between the Chadians by justice, especially justice. Listen to your heart and your reason “.

Ali Abdel-Rhamane Haggar believes that the president must open up more:

“Some say you are the problem. Me, I still believe that you are the solution. Violence is everywhere. Some Chadians are impatient to do battle with others. Others equip themselves with hatred. But there are also Chadians who believe in Chad. They are there, an overwhelming majority. They are inside and in the diaspora. These Chadians believe in the virtues of dialogue, without arrogance of the biceps.

Chadians are tense and expect you to relax them with an approach full of historicity. Don’t get caught up in the monotony of laudation. Open up more. Chadians born in 1990 are 30 years old. They are entitled to more peace and confidence. They do not understand why their country is among the least developed. It is for them and especially for them and the not so young that the vice-president must be appointed, for more employment, joy, dreams, hope “.

According to him, the “indelicate contributions” do not reach the president “because of the security filter”. Ali Abdel-Rhamane Haggar calls on Idriss Deby to protect the future vice-president from the shadow advisers:

“I am writing to you knowingly. I have always voted for you, consciously. By voting, I vote for peace. Peace should not be a truce between two wars. The one that is being prepared in the minds of some people. a name. It is the carnage of all against all, led by cowards who await this moment with relish. You must deny this omen by inviting everyone to PEACE. By ceasing to demonize your adversaries. Listen to your heart and your heart. spirit, Mr. President. Appoint us a Good Vice President and let him work by protecting him from the shadow advisers. I am writing this post because the indelicate contributions do not reach you because of the security filter. May God watch on you, on all Chadians and our unique country, Chad. Amen “.
