Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Future Ruins’ Festival Canceled Just Weeks Before Launch
los Angeles - Teh inaugural ‘Future Ruins’ festival, a groundbreaking event conceived by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor celebrating film and television composers, has been canceled, organizers announced Friday. The festival had been scheduled for November 8 at the Los Angeles Equestrian center.
The cancellation comes due to “a number of logistical challenges and complications,” according to a statement posted on the event’s Twitter feed.Organizers stated they felt unable to deliver the experience they had envisioned and chose to postpone rather than compromise on quality.
The festival was to feature a lineup of prominent film-music composers including John Carpenter, Questlove (performing the soundtrack work of Curtis Mayfield), Danny Elfman, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Hildur Guðnadóttir. Presented by Live Nation, ‘Future Ruins’ aimed to be “a first-of-its-kind music festival: a day-long event where the world’s most influential film and television composers step out from behind the screen and onto the stage.”
Reznor,in the initial announcement, described the festival as an prospect for composers “to tell new stories in an engaging live setting,” adding that “Every artist is a headliner, each with their own specially curated moment.” The event was designed with three stages, encouraging artists to “take big swings and reimagine their work for a live audience.”
Organizers apologized for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation and expressed appreciation for the interest and support received. A link to further details about the festival’s planned lineup can be found here.
