Frank Lampard has hit his own group of players hard on Saturday after Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat in the London derby against Arsenal. According to trainer, the loss was the result of a lack of work ethic.
Chelsea did not give home in the first half at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal took advantage of this via a penalty from Alexandre Lacazette and a free kick from Granit Xhaka. After Bukayo Saka’s brilliant 3-0, the visitors only did something in return via Tammy Abraham just before time.
“If you start a game so badly, you are immediately behind the facts”, Lampard grumbled Sky Sports. “To the outside I take the responsibility, but the players have to do what they stand for. They didn’t give home today.”
“I am very angry and disappointed with the way we came out in the first half. That has nothing to do with tactics, but simply with work ethic. Are you willing to sprint for a teammate, or do you do it? take it easy?”

‘You don’t win a match at sixty percent’
With Arsenal, Chelsea hit a team that is in the corner where the blows fall. ‘The Gunners’ started the game just above the relegation line, while Chelsea could have climbed to second place in the Premier League.
“That is a dangerous combination and I warned the players about it”, Lampard emphasizes. “But if you start the game too weak and then induce a penalty and a free kick through laziness, you give the opponent hope.”
“This defeat is our deserve. If you play at sixty or seventy percent, you’re not going to win a single game in the Premier League.”
