Funding in Japan with an expatriate status?

Hello,

I hope you are well. It has been almost a few months that I am in Japan following my professional transfer.

Everything is going well for me, however, I would like to have some advice from expats living in Japan who have resorted to bank financing.

There you go, I work for a branch of an HK bank. My salary is taxed and paid into an HK account. I want to buy an old house in Japan with cash, however, I want to finance the work part. Despite a “good” salary, I did not find a Japanese bank that could finance me. Indeed, I do not have a Japanese salary strictly speaking (I have the status of expat wholesale).

I tried to get financing from my HK bank but it is not possible given that it is for a house in Japan (Unblocking on invoice).

In addition, is it possible to be financed over 5 years with a 2-year visa (which will be renewed)?

Thank you to you and good luck
