Enka Star Fukuda Kohei Achieves Dream Performance at Ryogoku Kokugikan, Announces New Single
Tokyo, Japan – Enka singer Fukuda Kohei marked a career milestone with his first solo concert at the historic ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, captivating audiences with a three-hour performance culminating in a rousing rendition of Ito Hisao’s “Night of Iyomante.” The concert, held recently, saw the audience participate enthusiastically in the encore, echoing throughout the venue.
Fukuda expressed immense satisfaction, stating, “I had a dream come true at the concert at Ryogoku Kokugikan. There has never been a better performance before, so I think everyone has created a valuable stage today… I never thought I woudl be able to sing songs in places like this and become a singer who will listen to them.” He further shared a personal connection to the venue, noting his grandfather and father’s love of sumo and his ambition to “make history into the music world too,” mirroring the legacy of past yokozuna enshrined within the Kokugikan’s walls.
To commemorate the event, King Records will release a limited-edition single, “Oira no Matsuri Uta” (Poetry song by Ogura Yoshi), on September 5th, 2025. The single will also feature a newly recorded version of his 2010 hit, “Nanbu Semi shigure 2025,” marking 15 years since its original release.
