Fuel, electricity and natural gas will rise in price

“The coronavirus crisis has led to a reduction in the consumption of industrial commodities. This has reduced stock exchange prices for oil, electricity and natural gas. BHS economist Štěpán Křeček.

Fuel prices stopped rising last week. However, the outlook for the coming months is not favorable for drivers. World oil markets have maintained the highest prices since March this year. This will also be reflected in the prices of petrol and diesel at petrol stations with a time lag. Oil traders anticipate that coronavirus vaccines will restore the global economy, accompanied by increased demand for oil. The result will be a continuing rise in the price of black gold.

In addition to fuel, people will probably have to pay extra for electricity. The main reason for the price increase is similar to that of oil. The expected growth of the economy will increase the demand for electricity. This will amplify new trends in the future, such as electromobility. In addition, the closure of nuclear power plants in Germany continues. One MWh is traded on the stock exchange for 45 euros, which is 5 euros more than at the beginning of November.

Natural gas suppliers are also likely to increase the price. This commodity is trading in the markets for $ 2.9 per MMBtu, which is about 14 percent more than three months ago. The development of the gas price will be affected by the weather in the coming months. A cold winter would increase gas consumption and probably lead to further price increases. People should therefore consider whether it pays to fix the price of natural gas at their suppliers.
