From Villa d’Ogna to New Zealand «Farewell factory, I want to travel» – EcoDiBergamo.it

“School has never been my strong point so, after repeating the second year of high school psycho-pedagogical partner, at 18, I decided to drop out of school and look for a job”. Thus begins, in telling her story, Alessia Colombo, 26 years old from Villa d’Ogna, who since 2015 has started traveling and is currently in New Zealand.

«I found employment – says the young woman – in an electromechanical factory in Ponte Selva, near my home: there I spent the last three years in Italy before starting to travel. This allowed me to put away enough money to think about taking a trip: I wasn’t thinking of a simple vacation but I was planning something big, much bigger.

I spent the first 21 years of my life in Villa d’Ogna, a small village of just under 2000 inhabitants lost in the mountains of Val Seriana, just over 30 kilometers from Bergamo. For me there is no better place in the world, but despite this, at that age I was very tight.

Everything was tight on me. I think the three years of the factory made everything much more intense. I realized that life couldn’t be “all there”. I had entered it at 18 and it was not my intention to leave at the pension. So I decided to take my life in hand and do something beautiful with it, something that would change and open my mentality, something that one day would make me smile and move at the mere memory “.
