Since the seven-day incidence is rising again in all of southern Baden, retail will not open without restrictions on Monday. Without an appointment it is only possible in the Ortenaukreis.
Currently only the Ortenaukreis is below an incidence value of 50 – only there the shops can open normally. In all other southern Baden districts, the values are between 50 and 100. According to the updated state ordinance and the federal-state resolution, only “appointment shopping” (“Click & Meet”) is possible there – that is, shopping after prior registration.
A visit only after registration is now also valid for museums, galleries, botanical and zoological gardens. Outdoor sports – contact-free – are possible for a maximum of five people from two households. Open without restriction – of course, in compliance with the hygiene requirements – hairdressing salons as well as new bookstores, driving schools, hardware stores (until now they were only allowed to open their garden departments) and “body-friendly services” such as cosmetics, nails, massage , Tattoo and piercing studios. “Click & Meet” applies to all other businesses. There are more extensive easing in southern Baden only in the Ortenaukreis.
In all districts with an incidence of less than 100, i.e. in the whole of southern Baden, up to five people from two households can meet again from today. Children up to 14 years are not included; Couples who do not live together are considered one household.
The development in South Baden is currently particularly worrying in the District of Emmendingen: According to the State Health Office in Stuttgart, the seven-day incidence on Sunday was 91.9 – on Thursday the value 58.9 was reported. And just a week ago, on February 28, it was 28.4. In addition, there is a very high proportion of virus variants in the Emmendingen district. For comparison: The seven-day incidence for the whole of Baden-Württemberg was 60.5 on Sunday, March 7th.
They were also well above this national average on Sunday Counties Breisgau-Upper Black Forest (Incidence: 72.5) and Waldshut (65.0). The was just below, but also above the 50 limit value district Lörrach (59,0) and the Stadtkreis Freiburg (51.0). In Freiburg, the incidence was stable below 50 in the three days before yesterday’s Sunday (Thursday: 42.4; Friday; 43.3; Saturday: 48.9), but the Freiburg City Hall also announced in a press release on Sunday, that with an incidence of 51.0 the retail trade “only” can offer appointment shopping on Monday.
Of the Ortenaukreis With the seven-day incidence, it is currently the only southern Baden district under 50 at 43.4, although the values are also increasing here (Thursday: 39.4; Friday: 39.2; Saturday: 41.1). Specifically, this means that all shops in the Ortenau district can open completely on Monday, subject to compliance with the applicable hygiene requirements (mask requirement, limitation of the number of customers in relation to the size of the sales area), as well as museums, galleries, memorials, zoological and botanical gardens.

In the meantime, up to ten people can do sports outdoors, including on outdoor facilities – without physical contact – in the Ortenau region; in all other circles there are five people. “I welcome the easing and opening steps,” District Administrator Frank Scherer was quoted as saying in a press release on Sunday. This is “an important step towards normality, which must be followed quickly by others”. All over the country, theaters, cinemas, concert halls and restaurants remain closed.
As a result, the situation has already arisen today, Monday, that due to the state ordinance – keyword patchwork – the situation with regard to permitted easing is not uniform in southern Baden. Theoretically, the feared shopping tourism between the districts is possible. That means: people from the districts of Freiburg, Emmendingen or the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald can shop without restrictions in Lahr or Offenburg, even in the village only by making an appointment. Against the background of this expected shopping tourism, District Administrator Scherer asked for restraint on Sunday. “It is now very important that we do not jeopardize the regained freedom and further easing by being careless.”
