From 06:30 to 14:00 this Sunday, the passage to Mataje closed due to the visit of leaders of Ecuador and Colombia | Ecuador | News

From 06:30 to 14:00 this Sunday 10 there will be a special security deployment on the northern border due to the visit of the leaders of Ecuador, Lenín Moreno, and of Colombia, Iván Duque, who will come to verify the advance of the Mataje-La Espriella road, which unites both nations, according to Colombian media.

For this reason, both vehicular and pedestrian passage through the 26 kilometers from the E15 San Lorenzo highway to Mataje will be restricted.

The meeting between the two leaders would take place in the early hours of today in Mataje.

“President Duque will travel on January 10 in the morning to the province of Esmeraldas, in the republic of Ecuador, in order to meet with the president of that country, Lenín Moreno Garcés, to verify progress of the work on the Mataje-La Espriella road, “reported the Colombian press.

The Armed Forces of Ecuador, through Operational Group 1.4 Esmeraldas, will be in charge of the operation during the appointment of both leaders that will begin with a discussion in the city of San Lorenzo, north of the province of Esmeraldas.

“Citizens are apologized and understood for the inconvenience it may cause to mobility, during the development of this event of transcendental importance for both countries,” adds the military statement.

Colombian media also indicated that at this meeting the leaders would also discuss issues related to the pandemic and the existing infrastructure between the two countries.

In May 2021, the Tumaco-Mataje road, which connects Colombia with Ecuador, will be delivered through the northern border, according to binational agreements. Last December, the work of the Binational Border Service Center (Cebaf), which is being built near the Mataje river, was at 90%. (I)
