Arsenal shocked Leicester from the start and took the lead already after five minutes after scoring by Gabriel. Barely a quarter later, Emile Smith-Rowe increased to 2-0. It was also the end result.
– I’m very pleased. Leicester are a very good team and it is very difficult to come here and win. I am very happy with the way we did it, says Mikel Arteta to BT Sport after the match.
– We started very well, created a lot of chances and kept the pressure up after we got 1-0. We knew they would change tactics in the second half, and there were some situations we did not handle well enough. But in the last 20-25 minutes we made some adjustments and regained control of the game, the Arsenal manager continues.
Leicester had their chances, but Arsenal kept away – much thanks to goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale who kept up with several big saves.

Former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder was a guest on BBC Radio 5 during the match and was highly praised.
– I think Arsenal were excellent all over the pitch. They had everything and sacrificed everything. They changed tactics when they had to, the team effort was superb and the goalkeeper had saves. So it was a day where everyone contributed, a fantastic day for Arsenal, says Wilder.
Ødegaard back from injury
After an injury break, Martin Ødegaard was back in the Arsenal squad, but started the match on the bench. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 1 – 0 for the visitors.
Ten minutes later, Ødegaard was down after a duel with Leicester’s Boubakary Soumaré. The Norwegian lay down for a while and held on to his ankle, but got back on his feet and played the rest of the match.
Saturday’s win was Arsenal’s second in a row in the Premier League and third if you include the League Cup victory over Leeds. Mikel Arteta’s men are unbeaten in the last seven matches.
– The bond between the supporters and Mikel Arteta was becoming thin after the season opener. That bond is about to be strengthened properly after the results recently, says TV 2’s commentator Kasper Wikestad.
Arsenal are now in a preliminary 5th place in the league with 17 points, the same score as West Ham in 4th place.
– We just have to keep going. We have won some matches and there are positive things to take with us, but there are also things to improve, says Arteta.
