Fresh convictions following the excesses witnessed during demonstrations in Tulle and Limoges

A Limoges, a 26-year-old railway worker was given a six-month suspended prison sentence. This man, summoned to the police station on Thursday, was recognized among the group trying to enter the highway through Les Casseaux on March 23. Placed in police custody, the young man admitted to having thrown stones at the police and apologized to the police, admitting “to have freaked out”. Brought before the prosecution, he was therefore sentenced via a CRPC (plead guilty) and was left free.

In Tulle, several people sentenced, two minors arrested

In Corrèze, the demonstration in Tulle on March 28 degenerated, with police throwing tear gas, responding to attacks from a small group. This Thursday, three men were tried in immediate appearance in relation to these facts. One of them was released, another was sentenced to a fine of 1,000 euros and the third was sentenced to 15 months in prison, including 12 months of probation and 140 hours of community service.

Two minors were also brought before the Brive juvenile judge on Thursday. Aged 15 and 17, they allegedly threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the police. They will be judged on June 3. In the meantime, they are placed under strict judicial control, including a ban on demonstrations, until a place in a closed educational center is found for them.
