French ski resort gets snow delivered by helicopter

The Luchon-Superbagnères resort is ready to do anything to get snow in its priority areas.

The winter season at the Luchon-Superbagnères (Haute-Garonne) ski resort is experiencing some difficulties. Because of the very mild temperatures (13 ° C this Saturday and 16 ° C Sunday), the lack of snow is strongly felt. In all, only 6 tracks are currently open out of the 28 available.

The Haute-Garonne departmental council therefore decided to take out heavy artillery. As explained by France 3 Occitanie, he brought in natural snow by helicopter to replenish the space dedicated to children and beginners. “This will guarantee the activity of the Superbagnères ski school“, he justifies himself.

In all, two operations are planned: one took place on Friday, the other is planned for Saturday.

On the video above taken by a trader from the Region and relayed by France 3 Occitanie, we can see a helicopter dropping the precious white gold that comes from the Céciré sector, located not far from there, but higher up. “As soon as temperatures allow, snow cannons will resume the production of artificial snow in this priority area”, specifies the departmental council.
