French Schoolgirl Confesses to Lying After Allegations of the Prophet Cartoons Ending the Murder of Her Teacher. Page all

PARIS, KOMPAS.com – A student in France admits to lying and spreading false claims about a teacher who was murdered last year.

Samuel Paty was beheaded in October after being called the show cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad to students.

His students complained about this which later sparked the campaign online scolded Paty.

BBC reported on Tuesday (9/3/2021), now the girl admits she was not even in class when the incident she complained about took place.

Paty’s murder shocks France. The tragic incident won a lot of sympathy, support for him pouring in at memorial services and marches across the country.

The 13-year-old girl, who has not been named, initially told her father that Paty had asked Muslim students to leave the classroom. At that time, it was said that Paty would show cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad during class about freedom of speech and blasphemy.

“He lied because he felt cornered because his classmates asked him to be a spokesman,” his lawyer, Mbeko Tabula, told the news agency. AFP.

The girl’s father filed a legal complaint against her teacher and started a hate campaign online over the incident.

Prosecutors said shortly after the murder there was a “direct causal link” between the incitement online against Paty and her murder.

The perpetrator, Abdullakh Anzorov, 18, was then shot dead by police shortly after the attack.

While the school girl has been charged with defamation. Her father and a religious preacher face charges of involvement in the murder.

President Emmanuel Macron then presented the teacher’s family with the nation’s highest honor, the Légion d’honneur.

The depiction of the Prophet Muhammad is widely considered taboo in Islam, and is considered highly offensive by Muslims.

This issue is particularly sensitive in France because of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo’s decision to publish cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

Twelve people were killed by an extremist group at the magazine’s offices in 2015 after the images were published.
