French fashion world mourns Thierry Mugler who made power women like Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian shine

Thierry Mugler was born in Strasbourg in 1948. At 14 he decided to become a dancer with the ballet company of the Opéra national du Rhin. It is there – at a very young age – that he finds the inspiration for his later collections. At the age of 25 (in 1973) he founded his own fashion house.

The focus is always on the female body with its sleek and refined shapes or curves, which Mugler likes to emphasize. His customers should not look cheap, but should be in their outfits power radiate. “I’ve always tried to take the body to the next level, to make people dream,” Mugler said.
