Freiburg: Ice hockey breaking news: EHC Freiburg reports that the DEL2 main round will be ended with immediate effect – the quotient rule applies to the final table

The shareholders of the German Ice Hockey League 2 (DEL2) have agreed by unanimous decision to end the current main round with effect from April 8th. Due to the current corona situation in the DEL2 game operations with several positive Covid cases and officially ordered quarantines, those responsible saw this as the best solution for the current game operations and the upcoming playoffs.

The final table of the main round consists of the games played up to April 8th, 2021 and the applicable quotient rule according to the rules of the game. The placements are made according to the quotient rule (points from games) with two decimal places, then according to the quotient of the goal difference in relation to the number of games played.

The eight best clubs are qualified for the upcoming playoffs. The DEL2 shareholders will be advised on how to proceed in the playoffs and the result will be announced as soon as possible.

René Rudorisch, DEL2 Managing Director: “After we had completed almost 50 of the 52 match days of the main round thanks to the tireless efforts of the clubs, we would have liked to have ended this round completely. However, everyone’s health comes first. Since the Easter weekend in several clubs, we have had signs of corona cases, some of which have already been confirmed, which is why we do not jointly advocate continuing the main round for the devil. Rather, we want to take care of the health of the players and, with a view to the upcoming playoffs, organize a better framework for the competition. “
