In order to contain the corona pandemic, rules currently apply that also affect the cultural sector. As a result, events of the cultural office in November will be canceled or postponed.

As a contribution to the city’s anniversary, the city archives belonging to the cultural office wanted to present the volume “The Freiburg City Rights of the High Middle Ages (1120-1293) – Edition, Translation, Classification”. The event should have taken place on November 16 in the Paulussaal and has been canceled for the time being. The volume was created in cooperation with the Breisgau History Association Schauinsland, the University of Freiburg, Chair of Medieval History I and the Department of Regional History. A moderated discussion was planned with Professor Frank Schäfer and the editors Professor Marita Blattmann, Professor Jürgen Dendorfer, Dr. Mathias Kälble and Dr. Heinz war. The new date is Monday, December 14, 2020, 6 p.m., probably again in the Paulussaal. There will also be a live stream on the website www.infreiburgzuhause.de.

Since 2014, the city of Freiburg has been a member of the international city campaign “Cities for Life – Cities against the Death Penalty” (Cities for Life – Cities against the Death Penalty). For the worldwide day of action on November 30th, the cultural office and the Freiburg university group from Amnesty International planned a special screening of the feature film “But there is no evil” in the Friedrichbau Kino. This event cannot take place either. The symbolic action for the day, the lighting of the facade of the Freiburg Theater in the blue tone of the logo of the city campaign, can be realized as last year.
