There she was shown around the house by two students. They explained to her what is most important to her at school: eating together, which is currently only possible in class due to the corona, the school social work, which always has an open door and an open ear for all children’s concerns, the rooms for input and self-organized learning, support from learning coaches and democratic cooperation.
The children also said that they would hear from other schools that there was bullying there. But not with them, because here everything is done together – even if it comes to pointing out misconduct and sanctions. “There is no better way of explaining the educational concept and the cooperation at a community school”, says Gabi Rolland.
With Andreas Stoch, chairman of the SPD parliamentary group, Rolland also paid a visit to the Vigelius School II in Haslach. There, too, there was a meeting with the representatives of the student responsibility at a distance. In response to the questions about working during the school closings in the spring, the information was given that work was only too little for main subjects, that good digital equipment and internet access were needed, but this was not always guaranteed.
If the school were to close again, it would be necessary to be able to contact the learning coaches as quickly as possible. In addition, alternating lessons would also be useful.
It was important to the young people that support was given to those who would otherwise receive little support. Particular attention should also be paid to the exams. It is urgently necessary that the equipment for these vintages finally comes.
The SPD politician Stoch was impressed by the contributions of the students. Stoch therefore emphasizes: “During my tenure as minister of education, it was important to me to develop the community school. Today it has been shown that it is more robust than other types of schools. Therefore I would like to strengthen this type of school further ”.
