The first message Freek shares is a photo of Katja. ‘Dear Katja, you are truly one of the most special people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. For years I have brought out the best of all your good character traits and you have done the same for me the other way around,” he writes. Freek continues: ‘It hurts that I couldn’t do this anymore at the end of our relationship, because you deserve someone who does that at all times.’ He is also more grateful to his ex: ‘I want to thank you for all the fantastic experiences and adventures we went through together.’
On the second post a hugged Katja and Freek were seen. The same snapshot that Katja also shared to announce the divorce. He also praises Katja in this post: ‘Most of you may know her better than you think, because in real life Katja is (almost always) just as loving, funny, spontaneous, smart, special, wise. , warm, involved, interested and interesting person as in the media.’

Katja stated in her post earlier this week that they have tried their best to make their marriage work, but that they are too different from each other. Yet she is more than grateful that their paths crossed. “We’ve been through wonderful things together and we loved each other very much. The most beautiful of all was the birth of our enchanting, moving, humorous, smart, beautiful Coco Loulou, who otherwise would not have been born,” the presenter wrote.

The couple met in Freek’s restaurant Guts & Glory, shortly after Katja’s breakup with Thijs and they ‘secretly’ married each other on June 21, 2019, and then celebrated an entire weekend with friends and family. The couple revealed at the time that they would not wear rings, but bracelets.
