Susan Wright, the Texas woman who murdered her husband in 2003 to collect on her life insurance policy, was released yesterday.

Wright, who is a mother of two and lived in Harris County, about 2.5 hours from Austin at the time of the crime, had been found guilty in the 2004 of murdering her husband, Jeff Wright, 34.

According to the prosecution, the woman first tied him to the bed and then stabbed him 193 times, for which she was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The Houston Chronicle reported that Wright, who is now 44, she was released after spending 16 years in a prison in Killeen, Texas. From now until 2024 he will have to appear before a custodian.

In 2010 Wright was granted an appeal after a judge determined that he did not receive adequate legal representation during the sentencing phase of his first trial. In this new legal process he received a sentence of 20 years.
