Free entry and exit: Enschede car parks free for the first hour | Enschede

ENSCHEDE – From January you can park for free in city car parks for the first hour. It’s still a test and the conditions are there.

If you hold your parking ticket against the machine within the hour, you can exit for free. After that hour you pay the full price of 3.20 euros per hour and 50 cents more every 9 minutes at a daily rate of 16 euros.

How, where and when

In this way, the municipality wants to spare the inhabitants of Enschede, who only have to stay in the city for a short time. For example, to go to the pharmacy or to run a quick errand somewhere. But… that free hour is valid only for weekdays and only for the car parks of the municipality itself: Van Heekgarage, Irenegarage, Mooienhofgarage and Stationsgarage. Q-park on Zuidmolen does not belong to the municipality and the Hermandad garage is not accessible to the public during the week because the police use it then. On Saturdays and Sundays the full amount is paid. Just like street parking. You pay there also 3.30 euros per hour.

For one year

The test is valid for at least one year. The municipality expects it to cost them €430,000. Whether he will continue with it will become clear in a year. Then they will evaluate: how much it costs and if people stay more or less in the city. Enschede does not yet assume the trial will end after that. Approximately €445,000 has been set aside for 2024. This is a parking fee that the municipality lacks.
