A woman who claimed to be a psychic stole more than $ 70,000 from a client after convincing her that her 10-year-old daughter was possessed by a demon and that she needed the money to expel the spirit, Massachusetts police reported.
Tracy Milanovich, 37, of Somerset, is accused of obtaining property under deception, in addition to theft and intimidation of witnesses, Somerset police said in a statement Thursday.
Police began investigating on December 17 when the victim reported that she was tricked by Milanovich to deliver large amounts of cash, in addition to household items, such as towels and sheets, to fight the alleged demon.
The accusations date from November 15, when the woman first appeared at the Milanovich business, Tracy’s Psychic Palm Reader, to read the tarot, police said in her report.
Milanovich was arrested on December 27 and prosecuted in the Fall River district court this week. He was released on parole.
