Fraser Health Authority’s vaccination marathon injects 7,000 doses | Coronavirus

The Fraser Health Authority is offering 32 hours of non-stop COVID-19 vaccination in hopes of injecting 7,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine at the Guildford Neighborhood Recreation Center in Surrey.

We chose this weekend because it is the one of the solstice. It includes the longest day of the year and we thought it was a good time to have an intensive night immunization session., explains the director of operations of the agency, Christine Mackie.

According to her, around 5,700 people have made an appointment and 1,300 more doses are offered without an appointment. Residents of the region have until 7 p.m. Sunday to be vaccinated at this center.

To accompany the event, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra gave a live concert and the control asked people who came to be vaccinated to wear their craziest masks. A red carpet and a place dedicated to taking selfies have been set up.

The purpose of this nighttime session is to encourage reluctant people to get vaccinated, says Mackie.

We are at the point where we know that people want to be vaccinated, but they cannot always, she emphasizes. So, we create an event in order to boost the attraction for vaccination.
