Frankfurt and Munich: Lufthansa cancels another 2,200 regional holiday flights

Frankfurt – Summer vacation chaos is imminent.

As BILD has learned, Lufthansa wants to cancel another 2,200 flights in the holiday months of July and August. Passengers should now be informed.

Just two weeks ago, Lufthansa announced the removal of 900 flights from its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. The affected weekdays were Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Now the other days of the week are also affected by cancellations. Flights within Germany and within Europe will be cancelled, long-haul connections should not be affected.

A Lufthansa spokesperson confirms the information from BILD: “In order to inform passengers as soon as possible, Lufthansa will take another 2,200 of the approximately 80,000 total flights at the Frankfurt and Munich hubs out of the system for the summer – also on the other, weekdays so far less affected. The cancellations concern in particular internal German and intra-European flights, but not the classic holiday destinations, which are very busy during the Christmas period. Furthermore, there could also be changes in flight times”.

The 2,200 canceled flights affect more than 250,000 holidaymakers. The reasons for this: staff shortage after Corona.
