Francisco in Santa Marta: We should not only guard physical health. Also the soul

During his homily at Casa Santa Marta, the Pope recalled that not only is the health of the body important. God invites to look beyond.

FRANCISCO
Physical health is a gift that we must guard. But the Lord teaches us that also the health of the heart, the spiritual health, we must guard it.

The Pope said that Jesus offered a remedy for the health of the soul: the forgiveness of sins. That is why he suggested that Christians reflect on confession, to start from scratch.

“Pope Francis in the homily commented that with his words Jesus allows us to go to the essential. “He is a man of God,” he says, healed, but he was not a healer, he taught, but he was more than a teacher and in front of the scene that is presented he goes to the essential. ”

“He looks at the paralytic and says:” Your sins are forgiven. ” Physical healing is a gift, physical health is a gift that we must take care of. But the Lord teaches us that also the health of the heart, the spiritual health, we must guard it. ”

“There is a word from Jesus that may help us:” Son, your sins are forgiven. ” Are we used to thinking about this medicine of forgiving our sins, our mistakes? We ask ourselves: “Do I have to ask God for forgiveness for something?” “Yes, yes, yes, in general, we are all sinners,” and so it dilutes and loses strength, this power of prophecy that Jesus has when he goes to the essential. And today Jesus tells each of us: “I want to forgive your sins.”
