France in the heat of struggle; About ten lakh employees participated World | Deshabhimani

Massive protests in France against President Emmanuel Macron’s move to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64. Around one million employees in various sectors participated in the second strike jointly organized by eight trade unions. Schools, public transport, oil refineries etc. were disrupted. All major teacher unions in the country have become part of the strike. About one million people participated in the first day of the national strike which took place 12 days ago.

The National Assembly will consider the bill to raise the retirement age next week. Opinion polls showed that two-thirds of citizens were against the decision. The government expects to pass the bill with the help of right-wing Republicans.

Thousands of people have arrived in Paris, the main stage of the protests. 200 organized street protests in the city. High school students also participated in protests at various places.

And in Brussels
More than 10,000 people went on strike in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, demanding better working conditions. The emergency service sector employees went on strike. The protesters demanded that more people be employed in hospitals and care homes and that wages be increased.
