The Leipzig ice hockey cracks were challenged from the start in the first third. Both teams not only started the game at a good pace, Krefeld also put the home side under a lot of pressure. It was Leipzig’s goalie Eric Hoffmann who kept his team in the game with remarkable parades, especially when the hosts were doubled. Despite two more men on the ice, the guests looked after by coach Elmar Schmitz found their master in the 23-year-old. In the 17th minute he was also beaten: Maciek Rutkowski took advantage of a Hoffmann mistake and put KEV in the front. Leipzig tried to answer, but the clock was running out. Break.

Head coach Gerike is satisfied with the results of his team: “It was difficult to get into the game, but in the second period it was a match at eye level.
