A 39-year-old from Wipperfürth had three per thousand alcohol in his blood when he urinated on Hückeswagen’s Peterstraße at lunchtime in March. He was watched by a crew of a patrol car, of all people. In court, the man now confessed to having got drunk with a bottle of vodka because of a broken relationship.
The criminal court sentenced him to four months suspended prison sentence this week. In doing so, it did not sanction the public easing at the Klingelnberg bus stop, but the riot that the man had subsequently organized. “Highly aggressive and cranked up” the Wipperfürther attacked the police after they had spoken to him, recalled a commissioner (45) who testified as a witness. His colleague (26) discovered a knife in the 39-year-old, which is why the officials decided to search him more closely. That alone did not suit the Wipperfürther. According to the prosecution, he physically resisted, writhing on the floor, and constantly trying to resist being handcuffed.
Three per thousand alcohol in the blood
After the man had been tied up with the support of other police officers and taken to the Wipperfürth guard, he turned it up again. He tried to headbutt the 45-year-old man who searched him in front of the detention cell. A blood sample taken later showed 2.4 per thousand and he tested positive for cannabis. Calculating back, the Wipperfürther had around three per thousand at the Hückeswagen bus stop, according to the court, which assumed that the alcohol was less responsible.
The Wipperfürther stated that he no longer had any memory of the incidents. He didn’t even remember the blood sample. He apologized to the police before being convicted of opposing law enforcement officers on two counts. In the attempted headbutt, the court also saw a physical attack on the officers. In terms of the sentence, it followed the prosecution’s request.
